about Maureen Crosbie
Having graduated from Glasgow School of Art Fine Art department, and teaching for a period of time, Maureen found herself drawn to the medium of glass. Working in both traditional leaded glass and mosaic, she make pieces for both public and private commissions.
"Influence from the glass, the huge range of colour, intensity and texture can inspire, or even dictate, a design." Maureen says
"I can be inspired by landscapes, the historic traditions of stained glass, a person, a period of history and even the possibilities of recycling." Maureen's work combines many elements and can result in a contemporary or traditional piece. She loves to explore new techniques and stretch the tradition, often using words and phrases in her work, finding inspiration from poetry, the Scots language and local places.
Original pieces of stained glass are always available for gifts priced to suit all pockets. For special occasions commissions can be made to order.
